Narratives of Land, Peoples and Identities

Description:

An art competition that deals with the issues concerning Land, Peoples and Identities

Organizers:

The International Center of Bethlehem (ICB)

Theme:

  • Many communities are in crisis around the globe. Lines of conflict and exclusions are being drawn along ethnic, religious, cultural and geographical boundaries. Increasing tensions between differing groups of people are creating communities shaped primarily by fear of “others” and desires for impermeable boundaries to “keep others out”; for example the Wall at the Palestinian-Israeli case.
  • The interplay between narratives of text and context continue to play a critical role in how communities shape their understanding of land, who belongs where and their multiple identities. What is “Identity”?
  • To express the interplay between land, peoples and identities in the context of Palestine today.

Technique:

Any of the Contemporary Art medias; it can be painting, sculpturing, photography, installation, video, etc… just take in consideration that when exhibited, it should not occupy the whole space since it is going to be exhibited in a group exhibition.
