Bright Stars Summer
Academy
The Bright Stars summer
program
continues a tradition
that started in the 1960s, and serves as an opportunity for the
children to discover their interests and for the experts to identify
the talented students. Each summer the academy includes up to 40 clubs
in 40 different fields offering the children opportunities to
discover their creative strengths, talents, and interests, and
learn
the different alternatives that they have when planning their future
professional lives.
Hundreds of children
between the age of 6 and 16 from the Bethlehem District participate in
the summer school. The summer academy offers the children a
number of recreational and educational activities that are designed to
strengthen the ties that these children have to their culture. The
clubs and activities are led by a team of Palestinian teachers and a
number of international volunteers. At the end of the summer
academy each year, the children and teachers are given opportunities
to help organize the "Final Day" festival, where the children perform
and exhibit the different works that they produced making them realize
their potentials and improve their confidence and self worth.
