The art pieces of Al-Jaba' C.E. Secondary School
 

 

 

 

1- “A PAGE FROM MY LIFE”

This piece is about the story of the student’s uncle, with whom she is very connected. He graduated from the university and could not find any proper job in Palestine; his only solution was to leave the country and work abroad. she put money between the cactus leaves to indicate that money is very hard to earn in Palestine and beside the cactus she placed an airplane ticket.     

 

 

 
2- “THIS IS HOW WE LEARN”



This piece deals with poverty and education; especially graduate education and the high fees of universities.
The hands represent a person who received his elementary education certificate and secondary education certificate, but needs to collect a lot of money to enter the university.
 

 

 

 
3- “THE TITLE IS A VERSE FROM THE QORAN WHICH MEANS, “THEY REPLACE THE BAD WITH THE GOOD”


This piece criticizes the youth in our community who prefers watching T.V. and movies than reading useful books.
 
 

 

 
4- “EDUCATION LIVES LONG”


In this piece Ahmad symbolizes education as an olive tree which is always green and lives for long time. He hung the Arabic letters on the tree, and under it he placed his academic curriculum. Ahmad insists on continuing the educational process in spite of the hard situation the Palestinian youth are facing; even if the Israeli soldiers close the schools the Palestinians will continue learning under the trees.

 

 

 

 
5- “THAHER IL-HAJA BATTLE”


This piece is a recollection of a battle of which the locals are very proud. It happened in the year 1967 when patriots from the Jaba village and the other neighboring villages attacked Israeli soldiers and killed them. The students placed seven standing olive branches in a white fabric to symbolize the martyrs in that battle.

 

 

 
6- “WHERE IS MY LIFE”


The student criticizes the lack of facilities and services for handicapped people in our community.
This piece represents a corner from a handicapped person’s room, in which you can feel the pain and touch the hard life that this person is living.

 

 

 

 
7- “DIVIDING THE ARAB WORLD”


This piece resembles the weak and divided Arab world that Israel is cutting it into pieces. Palestine and part of Iraq are already eaten.

 

 

 
8- “FRIENDSHIP”


This piece is about the friendship between the student and two female classmates. The three true friends will have to break apart by the end of the school year, as everyone of them has to go to a different place. She expressed her sadness about this separation with a torn red rose between the separated hands.
 

 

 

 
9- “DIASPORA”


The student wrote the names of his extended family and the location of each on of them on the leaves of a plant. He said that although the leaves may look far apart, they are still connected together and have the same roots and origin.

 

 

 

 
10- “MOTHER”


The student symbolizes the heart of the mother as a patient olive tree. She embroiders her name and her brothers and sisters names on the heart to show that they will always be in their mother’s heart.

 

 

 

 
11- “THE PATH THAT LEADS TO THE DESTINATION”


This piece symbolizes wisdom and a belief that taking the honest way always leads you to your destination. The opposite side of the path symbolizes dishonest ways which always lead to trouble.
 

 

 

 
12- “PIONEERING WOMEN”


In this piece the student created a small room of black fabric and on its walls she wrote with a golden pen the names of pioneering women who had enormous achievements for the sake of humanity.
On the ground she placed a light on a hand, to symbolize women’s need of community support, in order to show their talents and be productive.
