The Art Pieces of The Evangelical Lutheran School

1- “INTENSIONS AND WILLINGNESS”

This installation is a site specific work fixed in the stair case which leads to the exhibition. The students installed stones, thorns, and other obstacles at the end of the staircase to make the way to the exhibition harder.
This piece is about the determination and the will a person must have to achieve his/her goals.

2- “INSIDE MY HEART”

This installation resembles the human heart which has several good and bad feelings.
The students made a red room which is divided from inside into two black and white parts. In each part they installed different pieces to represent many feelings. In the white part they represented feelings like love, forgiveness, pure heart, and sacrifice. In the black part they represented the feelings of hatred, contempt, Jealousy, treachery and selfishness.
The visitors were asked to place a fingerprint in front of any piece with which he/she identified.

3- “NEVER JUDGE BEFORE YOU TRY”

This piece refers to wisdom that one must never judge a person without really knowing him/her. The students installed two similar piles of sugar and salt, the only way to differentiate between them is by tasting them.

4- “FAME”

This piece talks about famous people. The students made many figures and laid them on a rounded piece of glass. They put some of them in the light area resembling famous people and the others out of the light resembling regular people who are unknown. The figures placed in the light reflected shadow on the ceiling much greater than their original size.

5- “THE DAYS PASS”

This installation resembles life and how days pass on. The idea behind this is that one should never look back to the passed days but instead look forward to the coming ones. Life is beautiful but you have to see it. The students placed a cylinder made of wood on stand, which can turned around. The cylinder is full of colors to resemble life and on it lay a rosemary to resemble the passing days.

6- “HE WHO THINKS THAT LIFE IS A BED OF ROSES, ALWAYS COMPLAINS OF THORNS”

This piece resembles life and how hard it can be. Life is like a game; sometimes you hit your target and sometimes you miss it, but you have to keep on working and trying.

7- “UNITY”

This piece is about the unity of the Palestinian people. The students stuck together all the symbols of the Palestinian parties and religions with light tape.

8- “CO-OPERATION”

This piece symbolizes a traditional Arabic proverb about co-operation. One stick can be easily broken but a many sticks together are a rigid mass which can hold against any enemy.

9- “NO COMMENT”

This piece is an abstract installation art piece in which the student exhibited an old broken table and on it lay a history book opened to a page illuminating the glorious past of the Arabs.
This piece connects the glorious past of the Arabs with their shameful present, as the students study about this glory on a destroyed table.
Also, the piece represents the determination of Palestinian students to continue studying and going to schools, in spite of the bad situations in which they live.
