Palestinian Women Artists Support Their Families Through Art |
One woman cuts the recycled window glass and empty glass bottles into shape. Another carefully wraps the edges in copper foil. A third arranges the pieces according to the design, and begins to solder them together. Sawsan and her sisters, Layali and Samia, began crafting small stained glass ornaments and sun-catchers after taking art classes at the Cave Arts & Crafts Center. They, and many other local artists who have learned their skills through workshops and master classes at the Cave, earn income and support their families by selling their work through the Cave Gift Shop. |
