A DAY TO WISH
Which day to wish
and what to wish?
Do we have a hope for a wish?
Do we dare to keep in mind
that everywhere was a wish behind?
Whatever in our life
we managed to do
There always was a wish
coming true
So, don’t wait till the morning song
Just now, let your deepest wish come along! |

MORNING NOISE
Big sounds of the muezzin
It’s early in the morning
do I have to get up?
No, it’s dark
and still no roosters calling
so, please just stop!
Now I hear some cats
they don’t really agree
Perhaps they like each others wife
But please, don’t tell me!
It’s later in the morning
The bells are calling now
together with the roosters
Oh, please I don’t know how
to wake and face the day
But, now I hear a voice
A man is shouting “ka’ek”
together with a noise
of opening of doors
and phones who make their ring
I think I’ll leave my bed
and see what day will bring |

THE
ROOSTER
The
rooster is calling
us to rise
Get up all
you people
fool and
wise
Don’t let
another
make your
day
Eat some
bread
and find
the way
The way
that leads you
through
your life
Child and
granny
man and
wife
Hear the
bells
and listen
to
the voice
inside
that
leads you
Through
sorrow pain
and
hopeless fear
But, know
that one is
always
near

DOORS OF BETHLEHEM
Open doors in
Bethlehem
Open minds
Open ears
Open talk in
Bethlehem
Open wounds
Open fears
Just come in
and make a day
Don’t be scared
and stay away
Visitors can leave
the dear old town
But people of
Bethlehem
can’t get around
Not even leave
and visit friends
outside the
checkpoints
and settlements

THE ENTRANCE
One day a horse
another day a gun
Don’t let cruel men
come along
Bow your head
and wash your feet
Say a prayer
for what you need
Doors to open
and doors to shut
Just a small one is
for God
Though it’s bigger
than you see
Space inside
for you and me

SAMIRA
Samira was a child
Samira was a child of
Jerusalem
Samira was a child
Samira was a child
pushed out to Bethlehem
Samira left her home
another overtook
Years later she came
back
just to have a look
Samira is a woman
Samira is a woman in
Bethlehem
Samira made an angel
to see Jerusalem

DOVES
Doves on the roof
What do they know?
Do they know they
bring peace?
So, why don’t they
just do it?
Please doves, please!
Fly to the sky
and bring back a sign
From the bright
shining stars
and the world behind
Please dove, please
bring us please
just a tiny, little
piece of peace!

BREAD
I met a boy, and I
bought his bread
I smelled a baker,
and he gave me some bread
I liked a man, and I
gave him the bread
Bread is a power
that’s coming through
your body and soul
to be with you

FREEDOM
How will I find
freedom?
Freedom in body,
freedom in mind
Is freedom given to
me
or shall I find?
Freedom inside?
Freedom outside?
Who can give it to
me?
Shall I give it to
you
before I’m allowed to
be free?

AFRAMS’ POTS
We are like the old
pots in Aframs shop
We have to be filled
up, and emptied again
We have to be used
for a good purpose
The more usefull, the
more beautifull
Showing a time of
activity and history
Some pots are able to
stay for eternity
maybe not usefull
Some breaks, still
young,
still shining and
proud of ability.
Afram has become like
his old pots
Not in use any longer
The well that filled
Afram is dry,
closed from outside
We are maybe not
quite like the pots in Aframs shop!
Afram is tired
Afram will die if he
dries up
But the old pots will
still be there
Waiting – showing
something of Afram
