A Key of Hope is in Your Hands

In spite of all impediments facing the International Center of Bethlehem due to the current political and economical instability, we diligently strive to continue our programs as scheduled. Music, art, cinema and education continue to provide possibilities for transforming our destructive reality into renewed visions for our future.

One of our main concentrations lies in trying to revive the cultural life in Bethlehem and prevent it from decaying in this difficult time when normalcy is so difficult to attain. Our music program, be it music lessons or concerts, is the apex for elevating the spirits, bringing joy to the hearts, and renewing the hopes of children and adults.

As our new Conference Center opens, major music events will be possible. Yet, to be fully functional, one of our dreams has been to have a grand piano in the auditorium. ICB has received an excellent price for a Seiler grand piano from Mr. Hemi Benvenisti in Tel Aviv. Thanks to the Evangelical Lutheran Development in Bonn and Mr. Karlheinz Schneider (Tel Aviv) who on his 60th birthday asked guests not to bring gifts but rather donate to this campaign, we have managed to secure most of the funds necessary to buy the piano; however, we are still about 8,000 euro short.

A decision was made to begin a campaign to raise the additional funds. Our “Key of Hope is in Your Hands” Campaign will give our friends and supporters a chance to help make this dream come true. Donors can sponsor a “key” of the grand piano by donating 90 euros ($97 USD). In a time when all about us is chaos, you can help ICB fulfill its mission to bring joy, harmony and hope to the children of Bethlehem. As Mr. Schaefer from the Seiler Company in Germany wrote: “Music is a universal language which is understood by all people of any color or nation. Understanding is the base for peace, because war happens only if people don’t understand each other. May the Seiler grand piano for the children of Bethlehem contribute to a mutual peaceful understanding.”
