Since the beginning of this
year, arts and crafts courses were carried on intensively at al-Kahf Arts &
Crafts Workshops;
- A Glass Fusing and Stained glass course for beginners was held between
16th of February until the 17th of March. Eight participants attended the
course, 6 were women.
- A Chinese paper cut course was supervised by the Chinese well-known
artist Fan Pu, and attended by 7 women. The course was very intensive and
short; it was based on a daily meeting for 4 days.
- A Mosaic course for beginners started on the 26th of February and is
still running. Ten participants are joining the course. They come from
different backgrounds; from Beit-Sahour, Bethlehem, Beit-Jala and
villages.
- A special course was planed for school teachers, and is running since
the 25th of March until the 22nd of April. It focuses on providing basic
practical training of some specific crafts that are included in the
official curriculum of the school; such as the ceramic hand shaping, glass
fusing and stained glass techniques, and wax molding. Several teachers
from 5 different schools in Beit-Jala, Bethlehem and Beit-Sahour are
attending the course. Each one of them is having a different
specialization and is teaching a different topic.
- The drawing and painting course continues to be on every Thursday and
Friday evening. This course started since October 2003 and is still
running.
