Intensive courses at al-Kahf Arts & Crafts Center

Since the beginning of this year, arts and crafts courses were carried on intensively at al-Kahf Arts & Crafts Workshops;
  • A Glass Fusing and Stained glass course for beginners was held between 16th of February until the 17th of March. Eight participants attended the course, 6 were women.
  • A Chinese paper cut course was supervised by the Chinese well-known artist Fan Pu, and attended by 7 women. The course was very intensive and short; it was based on a daily meeting for 4 days.
  • A Mosaic course for beginners started on the 26th of February and is still running. Ten participants are joining the course. They come from different backgrounds; from Beit-Sahour, Bethlehem, Beit-Jala and villages.
  • A special course was planed for school teachers, and is running since the 25th of March until the 22nd of April. It focuses on providing basic practical training of some specific crafts that are included in the official curriculum of the school; such as the ceramic hand shaping, glass fusing and stained glass techniques, and wax molding. Several teachers from 5 different schools in Beit-Jala, Bethlehem and Beit-Sahour are attending the course. Each one of them is having a different specialization and is teaching a different topic.
  • The drawing and painting course continues to be on every Thursday and Friday evening. This course started since October 2003 and is still running.

Currently, the Arts & Crafts department is planning for a Ceramic Hand-Shaping course. It will start on Tuesday the 27th of April until the 25th May, every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, between 9:00 - 12:00.
