Dar Al-Kalima Model School

The first of its kind, the Dar al-Kalima Model School of Bethlehem, is an initiative of the International Center of Bethlehem's Dar al-Kalima Academy, which is an integral part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Through its innovative programs, the Dar al- Kalima Model School is preparing its students to face the challenges of the 21st century. The Model school offers its students modern spacious facilities, which gives them more room to move and grow.

Participatory learning, creativity and imagination lie at the heart of this approach. Accordingly, the prolonged school day is based on the idea of having the students work in small groups or "clubs" on curricula and non-curricula subjects. The school offers different clubs between Monday and Thursday of each week in the fields of art, music, ecology, handicrafts, physical education, computer and internet technologies, media and communications, vocational training, languages, theatre, dance, science, cultural studies and mathematics. The clubs' experience has shown that the students' performance has improved in general and that they have become more interested in what they are learning.
