Sponsor a Project

You can support, partially or fully, a project we are currently working on.

Sponsoring a project at the International Center of Bethlehem is a creative way to support our efforts.

You can sponsor large projects such as:

• a playground at Dar al-Kalima School

• water cisterns for the plant life at our Nature Reserve on Mount Murair

EXAMPLES

Water Cisterns

For example Dar al-Kalima Health and Wellness Center opened two cisterns which will provide water for the Health and Wellness Center and the Dar al-Kalima School as well as make it possible for us to start the project of Dar al-Kalima Nature Reserve. A generous donation by the Glasnapp Foundation made the construction of these cisterns possible. The gift of the cisterns to Dar al-Kalima was made in memory Mr. Ray Glasnapp.

The opening celebration was attended by the school children and their families as well as the members of the Dar al-Kalima Health and Wellness Center. Also present was a group from Wheat Ridge Ministries form the United States, who came to celebrate with us the occasion.

The total capacity of the two cisterns constructed is 650 cubic meters. The first cistern will store clean city water, which will then be used for drinking and showering by Dar al-Kalima school and Dar al-Kalima Health and Wellness Center. The second cistern will store the rain-water gathered from all the surfaces at the Dar al-Kalima, including the roof and playgrounds, and shall be used to irrigate the plants that will be planted over the next two years as part of the Dar al-Kalima Nature Reserve project. The Nature Reserve, which will spread over 10 dunums of Mount Murair and will contain half a million trees and plants that are indigenous to the location, shall provide a green space for children and families as well as contribute to the  improvement of the environment in the Bethlehem area.

Playground

In addition to the cisterns, the Dar al-Kalima School opened the children’s playground, which came about partly through generous donations from Playgrounds for Palestine, in the United States, and the youth of the German Christian Democratic Party, in Germany.

To date, three groups have sponsored projects ranging $1,500 to $120,000.
