Original Angel

$16

The Original Angel is a symbol of hope, resilience, and transformation.

Each piece is handcrafted from fragments of broken bottles and shattered glass collected from the rubble left behind during the Israeli invasion of Bethlehem.

At the “International Center of Bethlehem” art workshops, some of the poorest artisans in the Bethlehem region carefully gather these broken pieces and give them new life through their hands and creativity.

These angels tell the story of “the hopes and fears of all the years” that still live in the hearts of the people of Bethlehem today. The broken glass represents the fragility and brokenness of our world, but it also carries the message of renewal and incarnation.

Through His incarnation, God united the divine and the human, transforming what seemed worthless and hopeless into something whole and beautiful.

This spirit of transformation, born here in Bethlehem over two thousand years ago, continues to inspire us to find broken lives and shattered hopes and, through art, turn them into angels and works of beauty messengers of justice, peace, and human dignity.
